3 Things I Learned About the Raw Food Preparation Process #rawfood

I’m going all out with the Raw Food Journey. Before I get started I wanted to share with you 3 things that I’m thankful that I’ve learned ahead of time about doing the Raw Food Diet.

1. Going Raw Food can be time consuming so you need to plan ahead so you don’t grab a no-no food because it’s quicker. Cut up fruits that don’t brown the night before. Make sure you have enough for a day or two or even three so you don’t run out.

2. Smoothies and fresh juicing definitely helps. Although chewing the food may satisfy you more, when you can drink your breakfast or lunch it can eliminate the step of having to chop up everything and you can drink and dash if you have errands to run. Being able to drink your meal quickly will eliminate the need to snack while you’re out.

3. You can’t eat just fruit. You have to mix it up. I love nuts so they will be consistent in my daily roundup plus they are easy to bag and carry with you for a train ride or doctor’s appointment. I hear that celery is very good too. I can’t wait to get started and I welcome your comments and suggestions.

My Raw Food Journey #rawfood

Okay, first of all this isn’t a New Year’s Resolution. It just so happens that I was so sick so often near the end of 2011 that I finally went ahead and decided to do something that I’d be planning on doing all of 2011. I don’t even like calling it a diet because I hope to incorporate this as a way of living. I love fruit so much so that it will make you scratch your head as to why I don’t eat it more often instead of putting cheese on everything from Pop-Tarts to rice and eating whole bags of candy hearts every February 14th.

I’m really excited to venture on my raw food journey. This has been years coming because my eating habits honestly aren’t the best. I love butter, sugar and bread–all things that are bad for me. I hear you have to prep for this thing so that’s what I’m doing. Making a list of what’s in season in the veggie and fruit category so I don’t get jammed up once I start.

I know some of my favorite fruits may not be in season on February 1st like strawberries and blackberries. Besides just eating fruits and veggies I’m aiming to get things grown locally not something that is picked green, force ripened with gases and has to travel miles just to get to my local market. I’m learning as I go along and promise I will be completely honest. I’ve created the category “raw food jouney” so that if you want you can follow along with what I’m eating.
