It’s a New Year and so I wanted to share the most fun and sensible way I’ve found to organize my shoes. I love shoes and so do many of you who visit my site, but I found that without the photos on the outside of the box, I’d have shoes strew all over the place every time I had to go out just because I didn’t know what shoes were in which box. That was insanity for me and the clean up made loving shoes not so much fun. This is the most systematic way I’ve found. If you choose to do it, it will make your life easier, I promise

1. You can print out the photos from Amazon, Heels.com, Zappos.com or wherever you shop as you buy them and tape them to the box when they arrive.

2. If you have an older shoe collection, why not model the shoes and have someone snap the photos of them on your feet and print them out and then tape them on the box.

3. If you use clear boxes you still may not see the shoes clearly if they’re laying on the side so find something like a sleeve or name tag case that you can buy in packs of 5 or 10 at Walmart, get double sided tape, stick it to the box and slide your printed pictures in there.

4. I separate my shoes into boots, sandals and boots categories just to give myself a little less stacks to sort through when I’m getting ready to get dressed to go out.

I just hope you’ll have fun organizing and this helps even a little with keeping your collection spectacular!

Princess:

I wish I could wear shoes like this. Ever since having a baby my feet hurt like crazy when I wear heels. I only have like one semi-comfortable pair of 2″ heel boots. I’m going to just have to get serious, go into a shoe store, or Nordstrom’s (somewhere w/big feet sizes!) and keep trying them on ’til something works. I want my shoe game proper! Any suggestions? – Summer

Summer,

Funny thing is that I dealt with that earlier in life. I found that I could only wear flats and shoes that were almost flats to be very comfortable. What I found is that years ago shoes with heels weren’t designed for the toes to have ample room to move about, thus the reason so many women suffer from corns, bunions and disfigured toes, so, I avoided them like the plague. They make the shoes kind of differently now including WIDE widths, and if you find that something too pointy still isn’t comfortable for you, there are shoes with round toe and square toe designs that are equally as fashionable. Needless to say I’m no longer heel-shy. I got older and wanted to be more adventurous, so, instead of tackling 4 inch heels head-on I discovered that I could manage heels with 2 inches, then heels with 3 inches and then heels 4 inches. You may have to go gradual and see if that works for you. There are plenty of fabulous kitten heel shoes (see above photo) out there that may just be perfect for you too. See which kinds of styles fit best and stick to it.

Style: White Rose Kitten Heel. Item #300112604. Price $58 from White House Black Market.
