She has been designing intimates for brides for year and finally it’s HER turn! Jenna was married in November and, as most brides-to be, she searched for the perfect wedding dress. Lucky for her, she knew a fabulous lingerie designer to make sure what she has on underneath was JUST as special! Jenna’s designs feature ultra-chic style and stunning technical details, fused with the contemporary need for comfort and practicality which was perfect for the big day!

It was amazing to get a chance to ask her a few questions for all of the blushing brides out there.

Jenna I wanted to extend a congratulations from us on your pending nuptials. As a top notch designer what gorgeous pieces have you chosen to wear underneath it all for your special day?

I chose the Laos set for my own wedding night. Its a very delicate and feminine silhouette, but offers ample support. The color palette of this set is a beautiful blush, nude and white tone, and it’s made entirely from silk with intricate top-stitching detail. I also love the lace ruffle trim, which adds a romantic element.

Your designs are gorgeous and just have a timeless elegance about them. You said, “Lingerie is the first thing you put on and the last thing you take off, every single day. It sets the foundation for the way you look and feel, inspiring every emotion from confident to coquette.” What must brides keep in mind when choosing lingerie to give their special day that added touch?

Lingerie is part of the brides special day. When a bride gets dressed on their wedding day, they want everything from the inside out to look flawless. the skin, hair, lingerie, dress, shoes, jewels…it all matters! wear something comfortable because you will be in it for many hours. Make sure its something different then your everyday lingerie because you want to get excited to rip off the wedding gown to show there’s still a surprise underneath.

Brides are always searching for the perfect wedding dress, however, do you believe that there are certain pieces that are better suited for certain dress silhouettes?

Strapless – A strapless push up bra
Fitted – A plunge lace bra and thong bottoms will prevent lines from showing in the back area
Low Back – Leave the bra at home or have a seamstress build one into the dress
Halter – A racer back or halter bra
Lightweight fabric (as silk) – A slip over top of your fabulous lingerie. You won’t be able to see lines if it’s light and delicate

I simply adore your Vegas and your Gables collection. The amethyst and pale gray/lilac color pallets are amazing. What inspires you and what can brides and lingerie enthusiasts expect from your upcoming 2012 collection?

Thanks! the lilacs in the Vegas group were inspired from a recent trip I had to Napa Valley where the coloring of the flowers and grapes were mesmerizing to me. In my 2012 collection, we are using soft tones and fantastic laces. The laces are all very soft and feel great against the skin. We brought back rompers and nighties, in addition to new twists on our repeat faves like malawi and goa!

When I first learned about Ruthie Davis and her spectacular shoes it was through Beyonce of course who was donning a pair of her “Pluto” Peep Toe Pumps and looking as fabulous as ever. Since then I’ve been following Ruthie Davis and her blog, uncovering how she travels back and forth to Italy to oversee the production of her stellar footwear empire and most recently I’ve begun following her on Twitter too. When I finally decided this year was the year I would actually own my very first pair of Ruthie Davis shoes, it was also the year I figured I’d muster enough courage to seek out an interview from her as well. When I approached her, without hesitation her response was as flawless as her shoes, she said, “Yes!”

I follow you on Twitter and your Blog Ruthie Davis Data Points (http://ruthiedavis.blogspot.com/). What is your inspiration for the perfect pair of heels? Do you just wake up and design or do things/people tend to inspire you?

I am inspired by things that are architectural, fierce and exciting.  I love fashion but more in the sense of the lines and cuts and fits of clothing, bags and shoes.  I love a James Bond Girl who is sporty and sexy at the same time. I design heels that I want to wear.  I’m a woman and I get it. All girls want to be supermodels and to feel confident an put together – that’s
how I want to feel and that’s how my heels make girls feel.

I’m totally smitten with your jeweled accented heels because they leave such an impression whether you’re entering or leaving a room; was it your intention to give your line such a unique feel?

I love combining two unlikely attributes to make something unexpected – like the dichotomy of girlie, colorful jewels and hard-edge spikes.

I’ve heard you say that your second favorite shoe in the world right now are your ACE in Nude/Rosegold. What is your absolute favorite shoe right now?

I’m absolutely loving my “Microcompact” booties in black.  I mean, they fit like a glove, go with anything, have a 6-inch heel with a 2.5 – inch platform and I can confirm that it is possible to run in them if you have to as I ran 4 blocks n them today to catch a train at Penn Station in NYC.

Your shoes are uber popular with celebrities and have been seen just about everywhere, even us regular ladies are clamoring for a pair or two. If you could recommend a style for Michelle Obama which would you recommend to her and where do you suppose she’d wear them?

I think Mrs. Obama might really like my “Prefab” Pumps in Nude. They encompass a certain refinement and classic sophistication with my new slightly pointy toe and super slim platform. I think they embrace the style and modern class of The First Lady herself.

I am completely in love and ready to marry a pair of Ruthie Davis “Art” in Nude. They are masterpieces. What is your response when ordinary women like me swoon over your shoes or tell you that wearing them makes them feel like a superhero?

That is the best compliment I can receive.  Not sure what you mean by ordinary women because I think that all women who love shoes are extraordinary!!
