Contemporary artist April Peters releases EP, Early Bloomer
I am definitely an advocate against domestic violence, and with my hectic and seemingly endless schedule and overflowing inbox, I wanted to make certain that I got this news about April Peters up before the end of the month. She is a hot new artist and her bio is as encouraging as her music–you’ll definitely want to take a chance on her!
April Peters blossoms with the release of her debut EP, Early Bloomer
October 05, 2010 – In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, contemporary artist, April Peters announces the release of her debut EP, Early Bloomer, a conceptual project that tells a story that is relatable to so many women. No stranger to pain, April was raised in a household of domestic violence for many years. Early Bloomer tells the story of a young girl growing up too soon and navigating through the issues of lack, loss and love. On the title track, “Early Bloomer”, April draws from her past and touches each word with significance to depict her metamorphosis from a young girl to an “old soul.”
Regarding her new EP, April shares; “I’m a young adult now, realizing all that I missed of my childhood growing up. You know, the childlike wonder, the carefree spirit. I didn’t have that for many years and it’s clear that so many men and women experienced the same thing-growing up too soon. Most of us are carrying that weight around even into adulthood. My songs represent the “therapy” that helped me work it all out and let it all go! It’s about being real, calling a spade a spade, forgiving and moving on to have some fun and realize we’re worthy of the good that’s wants to enter our lives.”
Early Bloomer takes the listener on a journey of self-acceptance and making room for love. Other tracks include “Daddy Laddy”, “Opportunity for Love” and “Promises”. Drawing from rock, pop and urban music influences, April seeks to be a voice of hope and guidance for women that have been and/or are victims of domestic violence. Collaborations include spoken word poet C.C. Word (Michelle Carswell) and Donald Robinson of S.O.W. Productions (sowproductions.com), the producer behind artists such as Vanessa Williams, Stephanie Mills and Rachelle Farrell. Early Bloomer can be purchased online via aprilpetersonline.com, iTunes, and Digstation.
