Linking Around
As I was prepping for my book release party this past weekend I got a minute to do something I hardly ever get time to do during the week. I got to visit some of the blogs and websites in my sidebar and get some good reading done.
Glendy at Style Amor wrote a post that touched me deeply. If you get a chance read it. It’s titled: The Beautiful Mirror: How to Embrace Your True Beauty. I remember growing up having many issues ie. not liking my hair, not loving the way my raspy voice sounded, all because of teasing in high school. My issue wasn’t anorexic models or pictures in a magazine, it was what people from my own city, state, culture, neighborhood and most of all peers said about me just to be cruel. They put me down to feel better about themselves. As someone who studied psychology I understand the “whys” behind their actions, I just wonder how they’re feeling about their lives now, because I feel beyond spectacular.
@TheCoveted Tweeted a link on Twitter and it was a very thorough and much needed article for those who are serious about their blogging. It’s titled: Stop Getting Low-balled as a Blogger : written by @ashemischief. I loved it and was glad to see that I was already doing a lot of the things she mentioned. I run PrincessDominique.com full time. This isn’t a part time gig for me where I just upload pretty pictures and grin. I am serious about what I do and I think everyone who is, needs to prove that and step up their game. Incorporate the tips–be a star!
Now I’m on a severe shoe budget. What I mean is that my budget is so tight that it’s screaming “DON’T PUT ANOTHER THING ON YOUR LIST!” In my journey this weekend Jak and Jil, The Shoe Girl and OpeStyle all blogged about that Nicholas Kirkwood shoe coming this fall. You see it, right up at the top of the post. He’s dangerous. He should come with a warning label. He will make you sell a kidney just to wear those shoes up there. Okay, well, maybe that’s just me. Maybe “you” don’t feel the same way I do about shoes. Nevertheless, ordindary shoes have never been my thing, and then enter Nicholas Kirkwood. Somebody slap him before he gets me in trouble with my husband.
