Men: How to Purchase Your First Suit
Mr. C, Men’s Fashion Editor
Purchasing your first suit is a rite of passage; it’s a time to actually see where you are on the manhood scale. My reasoning behind what I am saying is because I am tired of seeing our young men graduating High School in these colorful clown outfits they call suits and ending up on someone’s ghetto fabulous website. It’s obvious they have no male available to teach them about purchasing their first suit and what it should and shouldn’t look like. Trust me I understand about people individual’s taste, but someone needs to assist our young men in purchasing their first suit. And I believe it must be done tactfully without trying to embarrass or their taste of clothing.
As I previous stated a young man’s first suit is a rite of passage. I want young men to understand that the suit doesn’t make the man, but it’s the man wearing the suit that sparks something in him in a new way in which he never experienced, seen himself or was aware of. There is nothing like the feeling of putting on your first suit, the feel, the look, that first smile of how different you see yourself in this garment.
A young man’s first suit is the always basic black or navy blue no if ands or buts about it. The basic black will assist him in having a great suit for different occasions in his life when the need arises for him to be dressed to impress. The navy blue is the business slash casual suit which every young man needs. With the selection of the navy blue suit he will always have a suit available for interviews or dressing up or down.
The most important feature for the purchasing of a suit is to be sure to have the young man measured correctly from head to toe and ensure he memorizes the measurements for future purchases. Take almost any suit and if it is tailored well, specifically for the young man who will be wearing it, it will almost always bring the value of what people think you paid for the suit. The same emphasis needs to be taken on the shirt; yes young men also need to be measured for the proper fitting dress shirt to go with the suit, and a powerful tie which brings the whole suit together into a whole.
Not to forget the dress shoes, again emphasizing dress shoes. Whether you know it our not men’s shoes speaks volumes about them and also makes the difference in making our breaking the suit. So the key is to invest in a quality suit within your budget preferably wool-worsted, and a dress shirt that you were measured for and looks great together with the suit, a powerful tie to tie the suit together and a quality pair of shoes to make your mark!
