Mariah Carey Breaking Records

I’m not a fan. To me she’s liposucked and plastic, and gets off on doing that little school girl thing to death (although she’s probably a very nice, sweet and wonderful person) but you can’t deny that she’s breaking records. The evidence is clear–she is rocking the charts! The video for Touch My Body has incited a quiet riot. Check it out.

Singer Mariah Carey has passed Elvis Presley for the most No. 1 US singles and is now second only to the Beatles.
But while the diva was in full celebration mode after learning of her latest milestone with her 18th chart-topper “Touch My Body”, she was also quick to put her accomplishment in perspective.
“I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionised music but also changed the world,” she said.
“That’s a completely different era and time … I’m just feeling really happy and grateful.”
Carey’s single is the new No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart: The song also is No. 1 on the trade magazine’s digital download chart.

to be honest the new single sucks
what a disappointment after the strong comeback last album.
the video is terrible too. mind you she has made some terrible videos in the past as well. the one with jay z where she’s in the cinema come to mind and the one with mase and puffy and the rest of the shiny suit crue. uhhhh

Neither do I. I think she’s okay, but I’m not thrilled anything that she does or has done.

To me she has a beautiful voice and she can hit different octaves. Her voice reminds me of the late Minnie Rippleton. Although it seems that she went through a personal crisis that we saw unfold with her marriage and what seemed like a breakdown, I still like her music. I’ve heard she can be a real DIVA at times so on a personal level I can see folks shying away from her. Its rare that every album an artist puts out is a hit; because to me her first album and the last one were her two best ones (haven’t heard the new one yet…still waiting to get it in the mail).

Definitely she does. I guess I’m put off by her personality a little. I don’t know, but I’m glad she’s getting recognition. Definitely, I’m not knocking that at all.

She probably has no one in her inner circle to tell her if her attitude was better she would sell more CDs.

You’re right. Michael Jackson has the same problem!
