John Hughes: The King of Teens

John Hughes has turned into those recluses. You know the kind who seldom go out and whose name isn’t attached to anything. Don’t know John Hughes? Maybe you’re more familiar with his body of work ie. Pretty in Pink (my favorite movie), Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Breakfast Club (another one of my faves). He’s been hailed “The King of Teens” and if you were a teen in the 80’s you’ll know exactly what they’re talking about. Why all the sudden talk about John Hughes? Here’s an article that the LA Times wrote about the filmmaker and the impression he’s left on an entire generation. I think I’ll go and pop in a dvd. I’m feeling nostalgic.

Yeah, I enjoyed all those movies you mentioned. I just wished we had “our” own movies. The Breakfast Club I really liked. I related to being different. It was a good mix of preconceived stereotypes.

I was talking about that the other day Shai. Something that could be a classic though, nothing raunchy because back in the day we weren’t even like that.
