Reginald Potts Denied Bail

Everybody seems to believe they know what happened. There’s a drug dealer’s name that’s being thrown into the hat, a doctor (Marco Ellis). Of course surveillance cameras would help. This is a bit dated but I still wanted it in the archives.

A former boyfriend (Reginald Potts) pleaded not guilty to killing pharmaceutical representative Nailah Franklin in September.
Reginald Potts Jr., 31, of Chicago was indicted a few weeks ago on 22 counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, vehicular hijacking and robbery in connection with Franklin’s death. Potts is being held without bail in Cook County Jail.
Circuit Judge Nicholas Ford ordered Friday that Potts, who can leave his maximum-security cell for only one hour a day, be allowed to call lawyers during business hours next week. Potts, who is trying to hire a private lawyer, had complained that he was allowed to make the calls only at odd hours when lawyers weren’t in their offices.
According to authorities, Reginald Potts Jr. left a trail of electronic breadcrumbs on Sept. 18 as he drove Nailah Franklin down to Calumet City, where her hidden, naked and decomposing body was found more than a week later.
“Cell phone tower site records show [Potts] heading south on the Dan Ryan shortly after 7 p.m.,” says a summary of evidence against Potts read in court to a judge this week by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. “Cell tower site records place [Potts] and [Franklin] within the same vicinity of 159th Street in Calumet City … at the same time in the same area where the victim’s pharmaceuticals and jewelry were found.”
Potts, 31, had dated Franklin, and prior to her disappearance she complained to police that he had been threatening her. The prosecution document goes on to allege that, “Cell tower site records show [Franklin] and [Potts] then traveling east in Calumet City at the same time in the same vicinity. These records show them together at the same time in the area where [her] body was found.”
The saga continues…

After the court appearance yesterday, it seems this jerk is in it for the long haul. Putting off a trial for as long as he can. He will never admit any guilt, no matter what evidence is presented. Therefore, the saga will continue for many years. Just a shame that The Franklin family has to endure this drama because of a FOOL!!
The court system is for the criminals, not the victims…..This sucks…
