2008 Grammy Nominations Amy Winehouse Get 6 Nods

It’s Grammy time again. Who will win what? It was announced that Kanye West leads the nominations for the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards with eight nominations. Amy Winehouse earned six nominations. Foo Fighters, Vince Gill, Herbie Hancock, Kanye West, and Amy Winehouse will vie for Album of the Year. Remember Kanye’s album ‘Graduation’ sold over one million copies in its first week, making it the year’s biggest US debut.
In addition to Winehouse, best new artist nominees are Feist, Ledisi, Paramore and Taylor Swift. Common (”Finding Forever”), Jay-Z (”Kingdom Come”), Nas (”Hip Hop Is Dead”), T.I. (”T.I. vs. T.I.P”) and West all earned nominations for best rap album. Peripatetic producer Timbaland, who received five nominations total, was among those receiving producer of the year (non-classical) nominations. Paul McCartney, whose album “Memory Almost Full” earned good reviews, earned nominations for best pop vocal and best solo rock vocal.
Record of the Year includes Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender,” Rihanna’s “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z, “What Goes Around…Comes Around” by Justin Timberlake, and “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse. The Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and T-Pain each earn five nods. Akon, Dierks Bentley, Chris Daughtry, Feist, Tim McGraw, John Newton, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Bruce Springsteen receive four each.
Winners will be announced on February 10, 2008 during the live ceremony held at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. This year, the party will be called the “Golden Anniversary” due to its 50th year.

Um….perhaps the use of the word “nod” in a headline about Ms. Winehouse is a no-no.
