Juanita Bynum Assaulted in Parking Lot

Juanita Bynum Assaulted in Parking Lot. You don’t get married like this to end up bruised and assaulted. They need prayer not criticism, we all do.

ATLANTA - Police said Juanita Bynum, a televangelist who has won a national following with sermons about women’s empowerment, was assaulted by her preacher husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel early Wednesday.

Bynum and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, the founder of Global Destiny churches, met at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta’s airport to try to reconcile, police said.

About 4 a.m., they fought in the parking lot until a hotel bellman pulled Weeks off, Officer Ronald Campbell said.

“She was bruised up and battered,” Campbell said. “She had purple bruising around her neck and upper torso.”

In a statement to police, Bynum said Weeks, “choked her, pushed her down, kicked her and stomped her in the Renaissance parking lot.”

Rev. Bynum was taken to a local hospital and treated for multiple bruises and swelling. She’s being kept an undisclosed location.

No charges had been filed by Wednesday night against Weeks, who left the scene according to police.

A call to Global Destiny in suburban Duluth was answered only by a recorded message with information about the ministry, and there was no listing for Weeks in the metro Atlanta telephone directory.

Bynum, a Pentecostal evangelist who lives in Hempstead, N.Y., has administrative offices in Waycross. The former homemaker, hairdresser and flight attendant got a break when Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences several years ago. Her ministry blossomed further after her “No More Sheets” sermon on breaking free of sexual promiscuity at a singles event.

She writes books, records inspirational CDs and preaches to millions through televised sermons.

She married Weeks in 2002 in a televised wedding.

At press time, police were searching for Bishop Thomas Weeks.

GO DOM! i found your link on the bottom of the GOOGLE webpage:!: GO GIRL:grin: too bad about juanita bynum though. this is a sloppy mess of a marriage. This lady at my job is spreading this story like butter hot bread…i didint believe it until i read it online. and if you re reporting it then it must be true. Sad state of affairs for both mr and mrs weeks to have their dirty laundry aired so publically. i wonder what drove him to beat her up?

    Hope you are doing well!

Calling all intercessors and prayer warriors please lift these two in prayer, the enemy is seeking to destroy, steal and kill!

    Juanita,

File the charges, have him arrested, get a restraining order. I know this is difficult I have been there. I am a very successful professional woman who never thought in a million years that this would happen to me. I have gone through a nightmare this year. Too many women are abused and battered in America. It is day in America when we focus more on a dog fighting trial than the millions of women who are beaten everyday. Don’t compromise your LIFE for your marriage. He tried to kill you and if given a chance he will. God bless and be strong.

    Hey Style!

It is so sad. It hurts because they were teaching a love conference. Now that’s not to say they don’t have good principles but who knows what was happening behind closed doors. It almost makes a mockery of the extravagant wedding. They need prayer. I’m not going to badmouth anybody. We all need work!

BTW, I’m ready for fall. You know me and fashion.

Even though I’m not a “fan”, I hate what the enemy is trying to do to the reputation of the Kingdom of God.

We should all pray that both of these people will see God through this. I pray it drives them closer to God. I also pray that God will get the glory and that anything that is not God will not stand.

Pray for the Kingdom, it seems like the bigwigs don’t want to protect the Kingdom by living what is being preached.

Pray for them to be healed.

this is an unfortunate state of affairs. i think this shows a lot about what people think is going on isn’t always what it seems. it doesn’t matter who you are or how high you may get. you still have to work at your marriage the same as you both did when you first started out together. people in the church(even high profile folk) still have issues when it comes to practicing what they preach…living what you speak. it’s easier said than done. whether your name is Juanita Bynum, Fred Hammond, or Hezekiah Walker, you still have to work hard to maintain what it was that brought both people in the marriage together.

Charles you are so right, the fact is that all relationships can experience ups and downs and if she were just a woman from Atlanta it wouldn’t be making the kind of news it’s making unfortunately. Domestic violence or whatever they’re calling it happens all the time in every culture and religious belief system. I think although sad, this should be eyeopening for many.

You know, I’m reading this and I am literally sick to my stomach. The enemy is s filthy, disgusting entity that has no respect whatsoever. I understand that we’re all human and make mistakes, but this is no mistake…THIS IS DEPLORABLE and UNACCEPTABLE. My prayer is for Ms.Bynum’s healing and Weeks’ healing as well…but don’t get it twisted, he’s going to get HIS. When you mess with one of God’s chosen people, it’s always an ugly recourse…but when you add to the fact that he KNOWS better…it’s worse *sigh*

The darkness is uncovered, so we have spent enough time looking…it’s time to start praying! We are imperfect humans, but I still believe in God’s perfect love. Even as I prepare for my own marriage, this doesn’t even scratch my faith. People do dumb, idiotic acts like this…but God is still in control! The battle is won, the enemy is defeated and time is drawing near…so he’s doing what any PUNK would do and that’s get a few sucker punches in before he goes completely down.

I pray that this “sucker punch” doesn’t discourage anyone…especially those who are looking for life’s answers in the ministry.

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come before your throne. You are so awesome Father God and I thank you just for being God. You are the author and finisher of our faith. Thank you Father for sending your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Its because of His death burial and ressurection, I have the priviledge to come before you this morning in prayer.

Father, I lift up your daughter, Juanita Bynum and her husband, your son, Thomas Meeks to you and ask that you would intervene in this matter right now in the name of Jesus. I rebuke Satan right now in the name of Jesus. The blood of the lamb is against you Satan, you must flee from this situation. Father, this has become a very public problem, so I ask you right now to show yourself mighty and heal, deliver, set free, whatever they stand in need of.

When something like this happens, God, I know you are up to something. Let all the judging cease and all the negativity cease and all the wagging mouths…cease and the praying begin. This very thing can cause someone to fall, so right now I bind up whatever the enemy has set and send it back to hell where it was dispatched from. Father, you said whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Lord, I loose peace and joy in the midst of this disappointment and hurtful situation. For the Joy of the Lord is our Strength!!! In Jesus’ Name, the Name above all Names, I pray….Amen!

I am touched by your comment. I too was corresponding with a writer friend minutes ago and was telling her the same thing, I’m sick over this. Moreso spiritually but physically too. Like I said in a previous post, if she were an ordinary woman with no fame behind her name, people would say “so sad” and move on, but the enemy “IS” tricky and he wants the kingdom to suffer blows to their faith and have them thinking, if this happened to her what chance do I have? My thoughts want to wander to the fact of where would she be if no one was there to break up the assault, but God intervened and a prophets reward is what the man who assisted her will receive. I don’t get preachy on my blog, but I will say to those reading, “be not discouraged”. I believe that there is healing in this yet, for them and for the entire body.

By Miss Princess Dominique on Aug 23, 2007

  16. Gravatar

This truly is sad. For both of them. And you’re right - they need our prayer and well-wishes (BOTH of them), not our mockery and mealy-mouth comments. None of us knows what goes on in their home and speculation won’t help the healing process that’s so badly needed. My heart goes out to her - I remember her talking about her wait for the one God intended and how hard it got as she got older. I offer up prayers not only for each of them but also for their family and friends. This can’t be easy for any of them.

WE MUST ALL PRAY WITHOUT CEASING! I PRAY THAT THIS SITUATION WILL ELEVATE DR. JUANITA BYNUM IN CHRIST AS NEVER BEFORE. JESUS TOLD SIMON PETER THAT satan ASKED FOR HIM BY NAME SO THAT HE CAN CRUSH HIM AS WHEAT, DOWN TO NOTHING, BUT GLORY TO GOD, JESUS SAID THAT HE PRAYED FOR HIM THAT HIS FAITH SHALL NOT FAIL!!!! OUR GOD KNEW THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN, IT CAUGHT THE PUBLIC BY SURPRISE, NOT GOD. THE BODY OF CHRIST IS AT WAR WITH THE ENEMY. WE MUST STAND GUARD AND FIGHT FOR OUR MARRIAGES, CHILDREN, MINDS, BODY, SOUL, SPRITS, AND ALL THAT GOD HAS GIVEN UNTO US. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HER AND HER FAMILY. PRAY FOR BISHOP WEEKS MIND, HE IS AT A WEAK POINT. BE BLESSED IS MY PRAYER!!!

By Calvin on Aug 23, 2007

  22. Gravatar

This is a very sad situation. I love Prophetess Bynum Weeks. I take no sides. There are two sides to every story. Yes he was wrong for hitting her. But we shouldn’t stop loving him. People can be provoked to do things they would not normally do. We were not there to hear the conversation or see what went on between the both of them. Who are we to judge. He that is without sin cast the first stone. No one in the crowed was able to attempt to kill the woman caught in adultery, hum, I wonder why? Love covers it doesn’t expose another persons nakedness. If we love either or we need to pray for the both of them. They are still spiritually connected as one. It shouldn’t matter because one is more famous than the other. They both belong to God and are God’ anointed so be very careful when speaking concerning either one. I constantly pray for our Leaders in high postions who are famous because those are the ones the devil wants to use to bring mockery to the house of God. Cry out in prayer people of God! This is our family. If one go through we all go throudh. wake up! The Kingdom of God is at hand.

Shelia thank you for the link, I appreciate your support.

Calvin thank you for your support. Divorce is sad but people who are not there behind closed doors never know the TRUE cause. It’s unfortunate, let’s just hope we can all glean from this.

Cindy you are right we’re supposed to pray for leaders, and fame shouldn’t have anything to do with it. They are still examples to me, examples that things happen and that no matter what God’s Word is still true.

    Fellow saints,
I call all of us to pray for the Kingdom of God and its people. Last night in church I learned that my pastor’s are divorcing (Paula and Randy White). The enemy is busy trying to humiliate the Kingdom. It’s time to stop praying for cars and more stuff and pray for the integrity of the Kingdom and its people. I went to the Women on the Frontline conference and she made a profound statement ~ “My husband is not my treasure.” She knows who she is in God, just as Paula White does. We can’t make husbands, friends, children or things idols. God is first and foremost, or at least He should be. These women can be used by the Father to slap the enemy in the face because what he means for evil, God always turns it around for the good.

    Bishop Weeks,

The world views you as a monster. I view you as a man who is probably frustrated and angry that a major part of your world is falling apart. I know a black woman can push some buttons and know exactly how to push them to send you off the edge. You know it is not right to hit your wife. But from her preaching style I know she can be rude and abrasive. The women on this board has only thought about Juanita, But man I know that you tried to leave and she followed, that shows me that you knew that you were already upset. You obviously set up the meeting to reconcile and probably her pride and arrongance was too much to deal with you got up and walked out and she followed you continuing to talk down to you and assault you with your mouth and probably hit you first, but because you are the man the whole weight is falling on you. It is funny that they have pictures of bruises and have an eye witness but you have no charges against you. This is all a ploy to get the info out so she can divorce you without looking like she is the one in the wrong. Looks like a plan worked doc, now she is the victimized princess and you are the monster, but dont think that everyone is against you there are some of us who understand. I am praying for you and pray that the whole truth will come out and you both will shoulder the blame of being two people who had a scuffle like married people have all the time and still make it mind you. Hold your head up and know some of us can see the truth and are not blinded by celebrity. The Lord will restore.

    I understand but dont condone

By kris on Aug 23, 2007

  29. Gravatar

Okay, I am a little confused. Anontherabigail, do you go to WWIC? In what service on a Wednesday night did you here that they were divorcing? I am actively involved in the ministry and since there is no “service”, but some smaller bible studies on Weds. I am curious where you heard that. I have been there for years and personally know them and have not heard this.

    Is this fact or rumor?

By Terri on Aug 23, 2007

Kris she does, but that doesn’t stop the devil from messing.

By Miss Princess Dominique on Aug 23, 2007

  31. Gravatar

Bottomline is this less than 6 months before they were married THAT MAN WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S HUSBAND. He had a church and a family with another woman that J Bynum visited and preached at their church, next thing you know she married that woman’s husband and was all over TBN with the wedding and preaching about men wanting sex at her love conferences. I’m not judging but someone please send up a prayer for that man’s ex-wife. That man should’ve been left to reconcile with his first wife utilizing all the advice he has given at their “love” conferences. I’m sorry but it’s time to stop playing go behind the veil…FO’ REAL and as she often says “be saved fo’ real!”

By Concerned on Aug 23, 2007

  32. Gravatar

Concerned I don’t know the details so I can’t comment but thanks for your input.

By Miss Princess Dominique on Aug 23, 2007

  33. Gravatar

I also stumbled across you on Google.

My thoughts and prayers are with Prophetess Bynum and all of the church members affected by this. I pray for Bishop Weeks too. No one knows what his state of mind is right now. There are a lot of “seasoned saints” mature enough to handle this, but what about the babes? I couldn’t imagine waking up hearing that my pastor fled the scene after publicly beating his wife. The sad reality is, abuse in the church is real. We don’t know ALL of the details, but you know the enemy is going to blow this up as much as possible and use it as ammunition against the church. You know that the media loves church scandals. We’ll be hearing about this until something else big happens.
As saints we are confident that ALL Things work together for good. Some good will come out of this. If nothing more for people to know that preachers are not exempt from the test and trials that the pew members face.

Have a Blessed, Prosperous and Excellent Day!

I don’t know anything about that either, concerned. However, I think we just need to pray. Pray without ceasing. I am so sick to my stomach. I am in ATL this morning been her for few hours, just listening to the TV and computer and they have this blasted on every news outlet. No matter what the circumstance, no matter who hit who first, no matter if he was someone else’s husband, no matter if Pastor Randy and Paula are divorcing the kingdom is under attack! We MUST rise to the occassion and get on our knees and pray. Prayer changes things. The enemy is attacking our families and what role models do we have? These great people. Pray, please. Don’t criticize, don’t worry about the details, PRAY!

By Terri on Aug 23, 2007

  35. Gravatar

Amen is all I can say. “Getting hit” isn’t a positive thing or something that should be ever taken lightly and however it started, the goal the enemy wants to achieve is to make a mockery of the church and of the faith. We won’t allow that! I won’t. It’s great to see that people are ready to pray instead of judging without having all the facts.

By Miss Princess Dominique on Aug 23, 2007

  36. Gravatar

I will pray for the two of them as you have suggested. I would not like to have by personal life or mistakes aired in public, but we must trust God. I do believe that he’s up to something. He will make lemon aid of their “lemon” of a marriage. Marriage is indeed hard, then add the “public” demands and travel, etc…

I just want the “Body” to reexamine where we are and where we would like to be. I myself have gotten sooooooooooooo busy, that I have had to go back and make the first things first again. This like home devotions, less tv, more quiet time, and less church drama, more,Jesus, more time in his presence…

You know what is done in the dark will come out in the light.

It started wrong and well you see what happens.

Bynum started her ministry broken and she forgot from whence she came. God used her at her point of brokenness and she took the ball from Him and ran with it.

I call it like I see it and God is not thrilled with folks who use His name to gain wealth.

They lived it wrong and it came out to the light.

I blogged about it yesterday when a friend informed me about it. We (christian fiction blog)are here in Atlanta, so we knew about it before the AJC leaked it, but didn’t write about it. I was waiting for a formal statement from her camp.

So my blog entry was a prayer request, too. However, domestic violence is an issue that needs a serious spotlight on. I know because I am a domestic violence survivor. Both parties need counseling not just prayer.

I hope the Word of Faith community do not band-aid this subject by blaming the media for exposing it. We need a conference on family violence and the spirit of anger.

And to be honest, I don’t understand why Weeks left the scene. Perhaps he will explain in time…

By Dee Stewart on Aug 23, 2007

Thanks Dee for your input, I figured that people knew about it before the media. I know firsthand about abuse too so you’re right it doesn’t need a band-aid. Thomas Weeks is a loser for beating up a woman. His ministry is finished. He needs to get some Godly counseling and probably stay out of the pulpit for a while. Who wants to hear preaching from a man who beats on his woman? He’s done as far as I’m concerned. This was probably not even the first time. I believe that God will forgive him but I doubt that his ministry  will recover from this easily.

By Kevin on Aug 23, 2007

  48. Gravatar

I know that we are only human and we all make mistakes, but brutally attacking someone is not a mistake. Even if he was walking away and she came behind, a real man would have kept on going. He did exactly what he wanted to do. No REAL MAN would brutally attack a woman. God will allow the devil to reveal himself and I feel this what happened. This is not the first time Weeks has been angry and out of control. He’s done this before to someone else. Due to him being in the public eye and proclaiming to be a man of God, he should have not been caught in this position. The God in him should have overpowered that anger. I don’t care what she did or said, this shouldn’t of happened to her or any other woman. Did he not know this was going to be widley publicized? Didn’t he know that there were going to be angry women, like myself to comment about what he did to her? I pray for her safety and I pray her strength in the Lord to come back to the pullpit more powerful than before. I pray that Weeks find inner peace and the MAN inside that God created.

    Thanks, anotherabigail,
It’s not that I was saying no it didn’t happen. I am at WWIC-Tampa and we have mid-week on Thurs. My husband figured out it had to be WWIC-central and called Pastor Scott. I am so sick to my stomach. Such wonderful people. I love Pastor Randy and Paula and Pastors Bynum and Weeks. It is so sad that this is happening. Doesn’t shake my faith, but the devil is a liar. He will not destroy the kingdom. In the name of Jesus!!!

Heavenly Father, I come to you now in the Mighty name of Jesus, asking that you mend every broken heart and dry every tear! God you are bigger and greater than everything that the devil is trying to do! God because I am in a similiar situation, I come to You asking that what the devil means for bad that you turn it around for good and that You will get all of the glory out of this situation! I bind every spirit of doubt and unbelief because I know that you are the founder of the earth and You hold ALL power in your hands! I curse every spirit that is contrary to your word and I sent it back to the sender in Jesus’ name! God I pray for every marriage in the world and I pray that men will stand up and take their rightful places and be the priest of their households! Now God, I ask that You would just hide Mrs. Juanita and Mr. Meeks in your “secret place” and do what needs to be done to give them both peace and closure to this ordeal, in Jesus name I pray! Amen

I JUST GOT HOME, CHECKED MY EMAIL AND SAW THIS MESSAGE FROM A CHRISTIAN SISTER OF MINE. I SAID TO MYSELF, “WOW” IN SURPRISE, BUT NOT SHOCK. I PRAY FOR JUANITA’S PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, AND MENTAL HEALING, AND THE HEALING(SPIRITUAL, MENTAL) OF HER HUSBAND. HE, AND NO ONE DOES WRONG, AND GETS BY. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT IT MAY LOOK LIKE TO US. I PRAY SHE TRUST GOD WHOLLY THROUGH THIS, AS SHE ALWAYS HAS. LIKE A LOT OF THE PREVIOUS REPLIES, IT JUST SHOWS THAT SATAN HAS NOT STOPPED SEEKING WHO HE CAN DEVOUR FOR WHATEVER TIME HE CAN GET………..IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IT IS. THAT’ S WHY DAILY PRAYER IS OH SO NECESSARY EVERY WAKING MOMENT. WE HAVE TO ASK GOD “DAILY” TO GUARD OUR MINDS, OUR TONGUES, OUR VERY THOUGHTS BECAUSE THAT’S HOW SERIOUS THE DEVIL IS. HE HATES THE SAINTS, AND DOESN’T CARE NOTHING ABOUT OUR PRAISE, FASTINGS, SHOUTINGS, DECLARING HOW STRONG AND MIGHTY OUR GOD JEHOVAH IS, HE JUST WANTS US TO FALL, AND FOLLOW HIS WICKED DEVICES.

The devil is really busy. He is traveling to and fro seeking who he may devour. My thoughts and prayers are with both the Whites and the Weeks. We are not to whip on our brothers when they are down, but rather pick them up and let them know that they are human and we all fall short of the glory and honor of God. We are all sinners saved by grace. However, my may concern is that we need to hear less talk about financial prosperity and more talk about “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. I have gotten to where I almost dread turning on TV ministries because too many of God’s preachers are giving the world false hope about becoming rich. It is not in the will of God that the whole world be rich. The best wealth that one can have is peace, love, joy and happiness. Christians stand on God’s promise when he says that,”I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed beggeth for bread.” God will provide our needs if we remain steadfast in our faith and stop worrying so much about being rich and famous. I summons all ministers to be obedient to your calling and teach the world what they must do to have eternal life. “What profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul.”

my heart is very heavy for the couple and the body of Christ.
we are I repeat we are under attack in every area the church is being tried, because we have been talking a good talk now the test is walking a good walk. wehn I heard this terrble thing I reacted as if it was a personal family member, and even though I may not know know Prophetess Bynum personally she is family and I have not been able to get them off of my mind. We ought to stay on each others mind because we are always on God’s mind. Please dont judge them, hold them up before the Father because He will get the glory and she will get the victory it is already her’s.
Makes me wonder who else Lord?
that is why we must pray one for another.
    Please pray for me.

such news is quite disturbing ,but after all is said and done God has the final say .personally l dont believe that we should judge juanita’s marriage and paula’s marriage .all l can say may God’s justice be shown and may his will be done and may his loving kindness be shown to all.
