iPhone Pitfalls and Dilemmas

I’m a gadget geek girl. You know that. It’s not news. When I heard about the iPhone I thought, wow, look at all that. Everything operates smoothly, at a touch. And although I was amazed, I never wanted one. I never thought about saving to get one or anything like that. I knew it would be pricey. Probably cost me two car payments. And then I remember having to go to the Apple store and mistakingly going there on the same day the phone was launching and the line was around and around the mall like someone who happened upon a government cheese stash. So then there was the guy waving his phone. He was the one of the first to get his, then the complaints started rolling in. Issues and problems are free, why would I pay almost $600 to have drama?
The complaints range from AT&T not being able to assist new customers AT ALL to gadget malfunctions that range from minorly annoying to extreme. Does anybody out there that reads me really have one? What problems have you encountered? So much for the iPhone hype. I guess that’s why this guy built an iPhone from scratch.

Apparently it’s been stated that alot of the problems during the startup month have been mostly resolved. But the Jesusphone as I’ve heard it called, has not lived up to the hype and it’s shown in lack of sales. They projected nearly 1/2 a million sales and to date, it’s only around 275,000. That’s a bust in my book. I demo’ed it, and it’s slick and stuff but no way in the world would I pay that much for a cellphone. I wouldn’t get the use out of it that would justify it’s purchase! But it is a cool device.

Whenever there’s that much hype about something, I pass. Generally with gadgets, I wait a few cycles anyway. Not sure I need my phone to be all those things anyway - sometimes we’re too connected as it is.

I don’t own one and don’t want it. I’m a bit anti ipod so this will not work, plus it’s missing several things I need and want in a phone. One of my coworkers has it and it is beautiful, but tapping a piece of glass takes some getting used to. And didn’t they know anyone can download and install Google mobile maps to their phones? And that the Nokia maps program is even better? And there’s no built in GPS and only a 2mp camera? And how many hours of YouTube does the average person even watch? So it’s not even all that of a gadget. In my opinion.
