Restaurant Scores

Restaurant scores. I just have a habit of wanting to see the scores before I place an order. It’s a borderline obsession. Most people ignore them or don’t care about them at all, but maybe I’ve just watched one too many Dateline or 20/20 episodes. Undercover reporting can make you paranoid. I went into an establishment that I won’t name–okay, it was a Burger King and it was smack in the middle of the ghetto. I’m not stereotyping, that’s where it was, I’m just giving you location. Their score was 78.0. What the hell happened to the other 22 points? Did they get points off for having dirty floors, a dirty bathroom, burger patties at the wrong temperature? Moldy onions? You never know! Were the cooks not wearing hairnets? Were they sweating directly onto the grill? Or was there a secret rodent problem going on that nobody wanted to talk about? 22 points is a WHOLE LOT OF POINTS! Needless to say I didn’t eat there, but people around me were munching and chomping and waiting to order so that they could be munching and chomping too. My favorite burger joint is Wendy’s and routinely they stay in the high 90’s which I appreciate very much otherwise I’d have to stop eating there. They must have a high quality assurance guideline or something–but that’s a good thing. The surprising thing is that I went to a McDonald’s in a sleepy little country town (population 2500 I think) and they had a score of 101.0. I was in shock. The burgers didn’t taste the best in the world and I only went there because they didn’t have a Wendy’s, but you can’t get better that 101.0, I don’t think. Next time you’re dining in or pulling up through the drive-thru check out the score. I’d like to know what restaurant and what the score was. I’m just nosey I guess and want to see how others compare.
Note: I get lots of information on jobs, casting and extra gigs, so, to stay abreast on that and fashion and celeb news join my discussion group at princessdominique-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. I get way too many to post them on the blog or to my mailing list. Thanks!

I don’t think I even want to know. It’s probably best I stay in the dark. I don’t mind eating spider legs, if I don’t know it, and it doesn’t make me sick.

Why am I not surprised? We have a local tv station that does a report each week. Hurt me to my heart when I saw a couple of my favs on the list. *Sigh* I think restaurants should have to disclose how they lost points

Chris that’s just NAASTY!!!!
Berry thank you!
Now I’m nervous. You’re a discerning reader. I’m working on part 3 (the final part) next.
Buck, that was nasty too. But you may be eating more than that!
Jayy I agree I want to know how they lose points too!

They don’t have scores like that in Canada, but now I am thinking they should.

Boogas and hair grease, that’s probably what we eat half the time anyway.

PrincessDominique: You and my sister, who lives in your city, are very concerned with restaurant scores. In fact, my sister hipped to the scoring system a couple of years ago, which has made me really skeptical about eating out.
She informed me that every infraction is worth .5 point. So if a restaurant has a 95, that means that it had 10 infractions. And the restaurant with the 78 rating should be shut down. With all this said, I think I may start cooking at home more.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I have NEVER seen a grade posted at any of the resturants I go to…I wonder why? I’m going to have to look into that.
Hope you have a great hoilday.
Holla!

The only place I’ve ever seen scores posted in resturants is Brimingham, AL. And there, you can ask why they got that score and they have to tell you by law. I’ll have to remember that NC does it too.

What a dilemma: Know the score and possibly not eat there. Or not know the score, and enjoy the food!
Then again, I used to do dirty dirty things with the food when I was a busboy at a restaurant.
Score wins!
