Emilio Pucci and the Jesus Sale
December 10, 2005 – 8:08 pm
Happy Birthday to me! (Although it’s not technically my birthday until December 22nd). I have to thank God because I feel like I just won an Academy Award or a Grammy. I’ve been eyeing these fabulous sandals since the summer of 2005 really. So, thinking I wouldn’t ever get them because they were $535.00 and I wear the most popular size–8, me like a dweeb though still put them on my Amazon.com Wishlist anyway. While browsing my list (yeah, I tend to do that quite frequently mostly to take off movies from the list that I’ve gone ahead and bought myself over the weekend) I rediscover them and start craving the notion of having them on my feet in a BAD way. Now dig this; I’m sitting here thinking in overdrive about these shoes that I’d love to pair with a replica of an Oscar dress that I’m having made, when I peruse my wishlist yet again and discover these jewels are on SALE! Oh, but wait, there’s more! We are not talking a miniscule 10% or even 20% we are talking 50 friggin’ percent off these bad boys! Hee-hee! So me like a good little author sits patiently waiting for my royalty statement and check to come in the mail, (tithes first God–yes, I will) biting my nails wondering will they be gone in my size before the check finally comes. I’m thinking at 50% off surely they’ll be gone because anybody who loves nice things and consider themself a SERIOUS shopper knows that you buy in off season so now in the winter time is when you’d snag those summer item markdown and vice versa for winter gear and boots etc. Exhale. With check in hand (or deposited rather) I wake up super early and try to finagle this thing praying the entire time (I seriously couldn’t sleep folks thinking about these shoes) when lo and behold:
This order was received Dec 9 2005 5:10AM
That’s right MA–they’re mine! I call that a “Jesus Sale” because Lord knows my goal in life is to pay my bills on time and snag a little bit of the things I want in between so at $266.00 ::applause:: these beauties now belong to Princess Dominique and after a fresh pedicure they will no doubt will look smashing on my feet. Jesus knows what we want and I truly don’t ask for much–I don’t. Yes, so after I’m photographed with them in the Oscar number I’ll probably rock ‘em with a pair of jeans, but hey, cest moi. Here are the specs:
Crafted in Italy, the fabulous fashion of Emilio Pucci uses a minimal approach for maximum impact. Slender straps sit above a signature Pucci print in velvet, amplified by a sublime dazzle of blue.
For those not familiar with Pucci not to be confused with Gucci, think 60’s Mod Style. Think wild and bright swirls of color and that may jar your memory of things that were in your very own closet or if you’re younger–your mother’s.
In parting:
“Although each one is unique, you can’t mistake a Pucci print. Since the late-1940s, when Italian skier and socialite Marchese Emilio Pucci casually tried his hand at design, the brand has been synonymous with bold, brightly colored graphic patterns with a kaleidoscopic, slightly psychedelic feel. Pucci prints usually appear on clingy, stretchy fabrics, and are widely applied in every category: evening wear, ready-to-wear, swimwear, accessories, shoes and home decor; they have even been featured in the logo of the Apollo 15 space mission and the interior of a Ford Lincoln Continental. Vintage Pucci is highly collectible, but present designer Christian LaCroix’s more current designs which use prints from the Pucci archive–are also in high-demand.” - NewYorkMetro.com.

Hey Dom
Girl, I love shoes. Power to ya if you can afford them. Paying over $200 is steep for me. Maybe when I become a famous author and entreperneur like you I can get some nice shoes.
Then maybe not I am a frugal person and would still cringe at the price. LOL. I guess I will have to be jumped into the high-price shoe gang. LOL.
By Shay on Dec 11, 2005

Just goes to show you that persistence pays off. Good for you. Personally, I am seriously mentally challenged when it comes to designers … hope you enjoy the shoes. You deserve them.
By Michele on Dec 12, 2005
Dom,
While reading I immediately thought of Sex and the City and that Carrie girl. You could have written for that show as she too had a PASSION for shoes. Make sure you send some pics out once you have the Oscar…it’ll be one for the photo album, i’m sure.

:mrgreen:I am so happy for you! I love Pucci! I’m even more happy that you’ve rebuked the devourer for your sakes, and made it possible that the windows of heaven can be opened up for blessings poured upon you.
Yes, you are a tither!
By Divyne on Dec 12, 2005
Since, Jesus is NO respector of persons, I’m praying for the same blessing come Spring for some boots that cost a measly $200. When you sport those babies with your Oscar Replica, look down and send one up for moi! I know what you mean about the size thing. I range betwix a 7.5 and 8 (depending on the designer) and you are right about size mattering in the hunt for the hot shoe!
