Mexico, Paris or Italy

Traveling Oui Paris?

I’m torn, almost like a love triangle. I am going on vacation. I desperately need one right now. It’s a birthday gift to me and husby because we’re both December babies. He probably doesn’t care if we go or not, but traveling is really the only thing that stimulates my creativity and I haven’t done it in far too long (no wonder I have been seriously lacking in the productivity department lately). Problem is I’m not sure exactly where I want to go. I’m currently working on a book that could benefit from me visiting Paris, not to mention mega Gucci is there too {grin} which is one of my favorite brands. The rich melt-in-your-mouth pastries that are guaranteed to put an extra 5-10 pounds on my hips (that I cannot afford) are rumored to be not too shabby either. Then there’s Italy. Ah, Italiano! Il Postino really set that idea off for me. The cinematography in the movie was crisp and the location so scenic that I’m dying to go there and take it all in. Mexico, well, I’ve been three times, but I still love it and its probably the most affordable out of three. I just want to go somewhere where I’ll actually rest and not come back needing a vacation from the vacation–you know what I mean? That’s senseless to need a vacation from the vacation. Something, however, tells me that if I go to Paris I’ll be shopping and eating all day long. Italy? Same thing, especially since I love garlic and Italian food in general. Mexico, I think I’ve been enough times and seen things like the Mayan ruins and been to La Isla Mujeres already so I can probably lounge and enjoy the parasailing and the local merchants that sell those Mexican blankets that I’m so fond of without getting carried away with shopping. Anyway. I’m still not sure of my decision. The trip probably won’t be until early 2006 but stay tuned. I’m going some place out of the immediate vicinity, that one thing is for absolutely certain…I’m way past needing it.

Have you been to Spain? My husband and I have been invited early next year and I hope we can afford it. It would be good to get out. My hubby has never been abroad. I grew up in Africa and fortunately my parents took us all over the place. South Africa is a wonderful vacation place too.
Whatever you decide, I’m sure it will get your creative juices going again.

Spain could be amazing! I went to Mexico a couple of years ago. The resort was beautiful but off the resort was like a 3rd world country. People were begging for money and trying to sell us stuff at crazy high prizes. Didn’t care for that. I have always lusted for the great, the infamous…..PARIS!!!! The city is rich in culture (art, music, archetecture), the cuisine is phenominal!!! Then, there is the fact that it’s a fashion capital. You can get Christian Dior dirt cheap. HANDS DOWN!! GO TO PARIE!!!

I’ve always wanted to go to Italy myself. I’m planning on doing so next year, hopefully when I go on my honeymoon. I’ve always pictured myself in some villa in Tuscany.

It looks like you already have your answer. Mexico seems like it’s easier on the pocketbook, and you’ll get to relax. All are great choices though! I have yet to go to Italy and Paris. Maybe I should stop saying I’m gonna go one day and actually plan to go.

It has always been my dream to visit Italy. I would love nothing more than to take in its breath taking landscape. Southern Italy, Northern Italy - I here they are completly different. Sometime I watch foreign films w/ sub-titles on BRAVO. The Italian films are always off the rocker. They got drama.

I think I would damn near have an orgasm if I were to put just one pinkytoe into the Mediterranean sea. And the shoes . . . OMFG . . . the shoes ! I love Italian couture. But it is extra pricey though. Which is the main reason I have not been. But I still have some living to do . . .

After Italy, my next dream vacation would be Thailand. However, I’m not as thrilled about visiting since the Tsunami hit. Yikes!

I always go to Coney Island in Brooklyn… Yeah, yeah I know its not no fancy, schmancy foreign country… but it’s pretty close.. You got the Word’s Famous Nathan’s hot dog… complete with the yellow/brown mustard. You can ride the rickety old Cyclone…. that in itself is more dangerous and death defying than bungy jumping or sky diving. There’s something for everybody.

I understand the need for recuperation. The beau and I have been discussing the same thing. Matter of fact, the Mayan ruins is on our list, so I guess we will be heading toward Mexico. We’re looking to take a weeklong cruise. I can’t wait to get away. Good luck in deciding. All the places you named are nice destinations.

You would love Spain, the most beautiful country in the world. I’ve been to Mexico and Italy but its no comparison to Spain. Italy is the ultimate place for old classic romance, so I guess it all depends on what you’re looking in the end.

Greetings! Paris is a dirty city. Of course having your husby with you will guarantee that you enjoy all the postcard sites (Eiffel Tower, etc.) Go beyond the tourist attractions and enjoy the people. Sip some wine, eat some cheese, etc.
I’ve heard two sides to visiting beautiful Mexico. I walked across the border (after driving from San Antonio) and found it a great experience walking with people dying to get to America. I so enjoyed the local crafts and seeing people in their lively hoods. On the flip side of visiting Mexico is going to all the beautiful tourist spots and enjoying the architecture, the cuisine, etc. So gone back to a familiar place! :)
I regret not visiting Italy when I was stationed in Germany for 5 years. I’ve only heard great stories from those that have lived there (American GIs). Of course it might just be COLD in Europe at that time of year but we know you sport that rabbit fur. lol Thanks for letting me have an opinion. Adios!

I say gay pari’, except sans the gay (I won’t touch that). I think a trip to Europe would rock! The wife and I just saw some Tuscany movie last weekend, and although I don’t think I’d like to live there, I’d love to visit.

I would love to go to ANY of the locations that you’re considering. A real vacation sounds good right about now. I know you will enjoy wherever you decide to go. A change of scenery is always refreshing.

    I’m green with envy.

So, I’d say anything involving Europe, uz you can visit all the places. Italy, France, Spain, etc. Mexico! YUCK!! It is right there, and you can go whenever. I don’t think I would ever go though.

Hey, Having lived 11 years in Europe but majority of that time in Italy you can’t go wrong there, shopping (Verona, Milan) Beaches, historical sites (Rome, Vicenzia, Florence) and you could travel Spain, and France from there.
