Expectancy

You ever have those days when you don’t want to be flamboyant or blingish and just be low key? Today that’s me. Makes me want to just curl up on the couch with a blanket and stack up the Brown Sugar, Love Jones and The Best Man dvds and just watch them back to back without commercial interruption. What I like about days like that is that spiritually you’ll find out who your friends are because they’ll “feel” you, they’ll reach out to you, they’ll know you need a hug, a phone call or maybe just a voicemail/email because you don’t really feel like talking but still want to know what someone cares nonetheless. If there is one lesson that I’ve learned and I keep learning and will never stop learning is that: YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN EXPECTANCY! As a wife, friend, mother, child of God, I expect certain things. Give them to me. I WILL NOT SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP AND ACCEPT SCRAPS AND BE HAPPY WITH THAT. NEVER EVER!

Edit: Ahem: To add insult to injury now women are supposed to figure out what they’re doing to make their men cheat?!?!?

Michelle and Barack Kind of Love

obama anniversary

Happy Anniversary! October 3 makes 16 years for Michelle and Barack Obama and all I can think is *wow* it only makes 10 months for me and mine, but I know that we are striving for 16 years and beyond. We are striving for loving and making it beyond the barriers and the issues and all the things that come to halt love in it’s tracks and slow down the growing process. Whatever it takes, we want to be in it for the long haul. We want to be in it long after those who keep asking, “are they still together?” stop asking because the answer is always “YES!” We want to do it not to prove a point, but because we feel this thing deeper than anyone can imagine, this was never a lust or a crush or a conquest thing from the beginning. You don’t limit, confine or time love, because to do that would be to limit, confine or time God. Just let it be, find your and follow it wherever God tells you to go and hope and pray for you own time time so that you can strive for your own 16 years and beyond. Happy Anniversary baby!

I Heart TV

fringe - watch it

I do. I love TV. I have since I was younger and my mom forbid us to watch the Brady Bunch because she said we couldn’t relate to anything they were living. Good Times was okay though, even though we couldn’t really relate to them either. I’ve scaled back my TV watching tremendously because its the only way I can get anything else done. We have a moderate cable package and we’ve upgraded to include the DVR recorder so we can get MORE sleep, but here are some of our favorites that we actually agree on, because you know the Princess doesn’t get down with the whole Batista wrestling thing *lol* no can do.

FRINGE

Where has this gorgeously envy-laden Sci-fi show been my entire life? I get to the point that even though I like to be in bed at 9pm that I am tempted to prop my eyes open with toothpick to watch this show. It is so ingenius that it makes me wish that I had written the book or that I was a writer on the show. It is fresh, original and I am a jealous hater where it’s concerned. Tuesday people. If you aren’t watching it you need to just toss your tv out the window. There is no point in having a television if you aren’t watching Fringe. Matter of fact, let them just turn off your light and gas because you might as well not even have that either. Just live in the dark, because if you are living with watching Fringe you deserve to live in the dark.

WORK FOR DIDDY

Even if I don’t watch it live I tape it at 11pm. I don’t miss it–ever. There is always marketing and promotion going on in his show and there is always something that I can apply to my own empire. It’s always amazing how whenever you put people together in a house together to live that there is drama. People find a reason to not get along, no matter how nice a person is, there is always someone who will dig deep to find a weakness and gnaw at it. It’s still an interesting process to see. That’s why I know I could never be on a reality show.

THE RACHEL ZOE PROJECT

If you read my post on Joy Bryant you know that I am semi-addicted to this show because it gives me both my reality and my fashion fix. I enjoy seeing what people are wearing and am even sometimes able to afford some of the things or reference them via the website. Watching Rachel spend ridiculously though is a joke. I mean she spends $20,000 on a dress just because it was a Versace dress from 1970 and I’m thinking who cares and who will ever know unless she tells them. That’s ridiculous. Fashion is personal and individual and the more I see people get crazy over fashion the more personal and private it becomes to me. I like designers because I like them, not because of who I see wearing them or because of price tags. Shows like this reinforces those points for me.
